Excel lesson 3 terms


  1. Absolute reference- A reference in an Excel formula that dosen't change when you copy the formula to another cell or range.

  2. Arguments- Imputs such as numbers, text, cell references, or logical values that are used in Excel functions to perform calculations.

  3. Auto filter- An Excel feature that enables you to apply a filter to a list in order to display a subset of data.

  4. Discussion comments- Comments that are displayed with Excel workbook but stored on a discussion server.

  5. Discussion server- A computer that stores discussion comments.

  6. Fill handle- In Excel, the small black square located in the lower-right corner of a selected cell or range that you can use to copy a value or formula to adjasent cells.

  7. Filter- In Excel, a future that allows you to display a subset of data in a list on a worksheet.

  8. Formula bar- The loong white bar above the colmn headings in an Excel worksheet that you can use to enter or edit cell data. The formula bar displays the contents of the active cell.

  9. Function- A predefined formula in Excel that performs a specific builtin operation.

  10. Relative reference- In Excel a cell reference in a formula that automatically adjusts to the new location when you copy the formula to another cell or range.

  11. Syntax-The structure for entering functions and commands including spelling punctuation and acceptable keywords.

  12. Thread-A set of discussion comments and responses that are grouped and displayed in hierarchical order.

13. Wizard-An automated tool that helps you perform a task by presenting step-by-step content and organization choices.
